After years of political campaigning, most of us have awoken this morning to what feels like a whole new world.
Election 2008 is now a matter of history and the results were definitive. We now have a new President-Elect and for the first time in American history, we have an African-American President-Elect. To think that it has been a little over 40 years (the same length of time that Moses marched through the desert according to the story) since the Civil Rights Movement. It is glorious that we have come so far.
John McCain delivered his concession speech early last night. For the first time since the campaign began, John McCain spoke without affiliation and without agenda. I must admit that his speech was filled with class and humility. It was disturbing to hear his supporters booing, and hissing. Those people should be ashamed of themselves.
So we have survived a reign of madmen, of fanatic sheep, and an 8 year "dark" age. The Republican Party promised "unification" 8 years ago and we have seen the result of their best judgment. Now, we step into a Democratic majority. Let's see what happens now.
