So this morning I became irritated when I opened my email to find a bunch of seemingly "trivial" emails from people I trust. Now I know spam isn't anything new, but I'm amazed that people still get pulled in like fish depending on the spam email topic. For example, a few months ago, an email was going around that claimed that Microsoft was going to be sending "everyone on this list" a check for some free cash in thanks for a "great year(or whatever)."
Now I know that there are people out there who really think that businesses just randomly send out money, but the reality is that that just doesn't happen. Instead, you end up with these huge forwarding chains which contain not only your email address but the email addresses of TONS of other people. You people might want to stop for a moment and think before forwarding those cutsey, important, or Jesus loves me based emails. No one is going to send you a check for a million dollars! THERE IS NO "lost relative from Botswana, South Africa" looking to share the huge sums of wealth with you cause of some lost "uncle." No one is going to know if you forward your email to 10 friends within the next half-hour.
I realize that there are some things that just HAVE to be shared. That's great! I can appreciate a good youtube video, or whatever as much as the next person. But do us all a favor. Instead of just blindly forwarding the email which contains other peoples email addresses, why not just create a new message and put your OWN name in the To: field and then BCC: everyone else.
