I'm still reeling from my Motorola Droid purchase this morning. I have spend the majority of the day learning about my new mobile device, downloading applications, and just playing. In my last post I alluded to a small hiccup when Verizon was transferring my contacts from my Samsung Omnia. After searching the web, I came up with a solution of transferring contacts from Outlook into my Droid. I found this solution in one of the Android forums and it worked perfectly. Follow these steps for a seamless and fast transfer of your Outlook contacts into your Android phone.
1. Open Outlook. Choose File> Import and Export
2. Choose "Export to file" then select CSV (DOS) from the selection panel.
3. Select the field mappings you want to transfer.
4. Login to your gmail and select "import"
5. Click "Browse" to locate the CSV you created from Outlook.
6. Click "Finish."
7. Wait 30 seconds (at least that's about as long as it took for me) and look at your contacts in Droid. You should see everyone there.
